Our Approach
Most damage during a move doesn't happen in transit — it happens during loading, when corners catch doorframes, or when items aren't secured properly in the vehicle. Our crew are trained to prevent every one of these moments.
We assess every item before it's touched. Furniture is wrapped in professional transit blankets before leaving the room. Fragile items are individually bubble-wrapped. Electronics are protected with specialist padding. Nothing goes in the van loose.
Protection Methods
From the cheapest IKEA unit to your grandmother's antique wardrobe — every item is wrapped, padded, and secured the right way.
Heavy-duty transit blankets are wrapped around every piece of furniture before it leaves the room. Protects against scratches, scuffs, and impact damage throughout the move.
Flat-screen TVs are a common casualty of DIY moves. We use purpose-made TV boxes and foam inserts sized to the screen, keeping it rigid and scratch-free from wall to wall.
Mattresses and sofas are sealed in heavy-duty polythene covers before loading. Keeps them clean and dry whether they're on the van for 20 minutes or in storage for 6 months.
Large wardrobes, bed frames, and shelving units are often safer — and easier to protect — when dismantled. We take them apart, move them securely, and reassemble everything at the destination.
Heirlooms, artwork, and antiques need extra thought. We use layered bubble wrap, acid-free tissue, and rigid board packaging — and we'll discuss bespoke protection with you at the survey stage.
Every load is planned before it goes in — heavy items on the floor, fragile items padded and stacked correctly, everything strapped with cargo straps so nothing shifts on the road.
Packing Guidance
If you're packing any boxes yourself, these simple rules will make a real difference to how safely everything arrives.
Use the right size box
Heavy items in small boxes, lighter items in large ones. Overfilled boxes burst; underfilled boxes collapse inward.
Fill gaps with soft padding
Rolled clothing, tea towels, or packing paper fill voids and stop items rattling and cracking in transit.
Label every box clearly
Room name and whether it's fragile on every side — not just the top. Boxes get rotated.
Wrap plates individually
Each plate in its own sheet of packing paper, stacked on their sides like records — not flat. Flat stacks amplify any impact.
Tell us about high-value items
Jewellery, art, instruments — let us know in advance so we can arrange the right handling and make sure cover is in place.
Don't use bin bags for valuables
Bin bags offer zero protection and are hard to identify. They get crushed, split, and can be mistaken for rubbish.
Don't leave drawers full
Full drawers make furniture dangerously heavy and can shift during lifting. Empty them into boxes or bags labelled for that piece.
Don't overfill boxes
If a box weighs more than 20kg or bulges at the sides, it will fail. Two lighter boxes are always safer than one that can't be lifted safely.
Don't mix heavy and fragile
Books in the same box as glasses is asking for trouble. Keep fragile items together in clearly labelled boxes with extra padding.
Don't assume everything is covered
Our insurance covers goods in our care. Jewellery, cash, and items you pack yourself may need a separate declaration — ask us before moving day.
Peace of Mind
We carry full professional liability insurance so your belongings are covered from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave.
Tell us about these before your move so we can make sure the right cover is in place.
FAQ
Yes. Professional transit blanket wrapping is included as standard on all our moves — it's not an add-on. Mattress and sofa covers, TV boxes, and specialist packing materials may be priced separately depending on what you need.
If anything is damaged as a result of our handling, report it to us as soon as it's noticed. We're insured and will deal with it fairly and promptly. We'll always ask you to do a walk-through on delivery and note anything on the job sheet at the time.
Yes — for items that need it. We handle wardrobes, bed frames, flatpack furniture, and most standard household units. Let us know at the survey stage so we can allow the right time and bring the right tools.
You can pack your own boxes, but damage to the contents of customer-packed boxes can be harder to claim if the box is undamaged externally. For peace of mind on fragile or valuable items, let us do the packing — it's included in our full-service option.
Talk to us. Upright pianos, motorbikes, gym equipment, hot tubs, and other specialist items often need specific rigging or additional equipment. We'll be upfront about whether we can help or whether we need to bring in a specialist partner.
